When I shoot business branding photography, it’s way more than just a simple headshot. Together we can create a whole array of content that can be used for so many different purposes. They could be used for anything from social media profiles, to email marketing, to business cards. For me, my whole business is built on business branding photography, but also my potential clients like to know who the person behind the camera is, so I use my own branding photos across all my different platforms.
Here are some of my favourite ways to use my branding photos:
1. Social Media Profile photos
Facebook. Instagram. Twitter. There are so many potential social media platforms these days, so by using your beautiful face as the icon, your clients will be able to instantly recognise you and your brand when you post and want to click to find out more.
2. Create a consistent social media feed
Consistency is key when it comes to visual marketing, which using social media is definitely a big part of modern day advertising. Instagram specifically is very much a visual platform in its grid-like form. So you want to make sure everything you are posting ties in with your branded style, color scheme or content. I like to make sure we include your brand color scheme within our business branding photoshoot, so when it comes to you posting on your social media, it will be super easy to just upload and post. It is also important to show your face and behind the scenes images on your social media feed, especially Instagram. The easiest way to be able to do that is through a branding photo shoot.
3. Update your business cards
Although we live in an online world, the power of a good business card is still beneficial. Be inventive with your business card, you have the opportunity to create one that is truly memorable. Including a picture of you can be particularly beneficial as it creates a personal touch, which can also help people remember you when you reach out to them.
4. Refresh your website homepage
Showcasing yourself on your homepage can instantly help your clients feel connected and it makes you relatable. You could change this page regularly, so your clients will know it’s live and up-to-date, while keeping it fresh.
5. Make your emails/newsletters more attractive
We receive so many emails a day, it’s not enough to have just interesting text to share with your clients. Livening up your email newsletters with behind the scenes photos, showcasing you at work, or perhaps the details of creating your product, can really help to get your clients attention. They will also be more inclined to repetitively open your emails if they know it’s going to be interesting.
6. Create new eye-catching blog content
Maybe you’ve decided to add a blog to your website, and offer free advice relevant to your business to your clients, or showcase who you are with fun behind-the-scenes. This is the perfect place to show off who you are and what you do with your new branded photography.
7. Pinterest Graphics
Ah, who doesn’t love scrolling through Pinterest for ideas? These days it has become much more than just a platform for saving your favorite home decor ideas. It is a robust social media platform with tons of sharing capabilities and search engine functionality. Great imagery on there will lead to higher clicks and re-pins, and will get traffic to your website.
8. Send to people requesting photos for events or interviews
There’s nothing worse than being offered an exciting interview or to be a part of an event, only to have an embarrassing dated headshot that doesn’t even look like you anymore. Now you have some imagery to be proud of and feel confident in, this is the perfect excuse to use your new branded photos for press releases, interviews and event promotions.
9. Marketing materials
If your business involves going to tradeshows, markets or showcasing your work to potential clients in a physical form, branded photography is definitely needed to make sure your brand comes across as slick and stylish. For example it could be your portfolio of work, set-up on a tablet as a slideshow, or leaflets for potential clients to take away. It could even be used for a big pull up banner, but again consistency is key across all your marketing material.
10. Online PDF resources
Do you offer freebies or opt-in lead magnets in the form of PDFs to your clients? What about pricing brochures or new clients welcome guides? All of these are perfect places to include branding photos. It’s another important place where potential customers can form connections with you.
It feels so good when you have lots of good quality content to use for your business, that really resonates with who you are and what your brand represents.
